Glory glory Man Uniteeeeeeeed! Sorry couldn't help it. Well i guess the mystery has been solved and we now know who the red fabric belonged to ( see here ) as today Konami announced Manchester United as a new partner club come eFootball PES 2020. The "long term" deal will see the 20 time league champions take to the field fully licensed with authentically replicated strips, amazingly detailed 3D scanned players and last but not least they'll be taking to the field at the Theatre of Dreams Old Trafford which will make its return to the series.
Konami also announced that United youngster Scott McTominay will be an eFootball PES 2020 ambassador.
In an official statement the club had this to say:
" Manchester United and Konami Digital Entertainment have today unveiled their collaboration on the latest edition of the iconic football video game, eFootball PES 2020.
Created using state-of-the-art technology, the game boasts the most detailed recreation of the club’s famous Old Trafford stadium seen yet. The current squad have also been created using a full-body 3D scanning process, providing players of the game with ultra-realistic avatars of their favourite United stars.
The game features a brand-new ‘Matchday’ mode that will allow fans to team up and play in weekly competition games, which correlate to real-world football matches. Winners from each game will earn points towards their team’s overall tally. Teams and players with the highest points score can then go on to compete in a Grand Final with the chance to be crowned the overall winner.
An exclusive Manchester United Club Edition of the game will also be available at launch. Scott McTominay, Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof, all keen gamers in the United squad, attended today's launch event, where Konami projected life-sized holograms of their in-game characters on to the stage next to them. McTominay described his excitement for the new game’s release this autumn and his pride at being selected as an ambassador for it.
“It’s a real honour for me, and I’m really excited to get the partnership under way,” said the midfielder. “I’ve been playing the game a lot and the graphics look absolutely amazing.
“No matter what games we [the players] play, if it’s cards against Victor or a game on the PlayStation or XBOX, I fancy myself to be right up there! The best part of the game is you can play with your friends and you can bring a brand new game into the changing room. Not everyone will have played PES 2020 so it’s going to be exciting for the boys and hopefully we’ll get some good matches going.” Lindelof added:
“The game looks very nice. Even the tattoos on the players are very realistic, just like they are in real life. I love to play video games and it’s always fun to play with friends.”
Our man Gary who was present at the Aon Training Complex during the announcement will be documenting the event so stay tuned for that.
