Liverpool FC contract up. Who will replace them come eFootball PES 2020?

Konamis' partnership with the current European champions Liverpool FC is set to come to an end after four years when their current contract expires on the 30th June 2019. The end of the deal means players will no longer be able to select the merseyside club for "official eSports competitions that are currently being held". However this will not affect its use in PES 2019 and acquired players in myClub will still be usable. The official statement is as follows.

"Thank you for playing PES 2019 and your continuous support.

The contract we had since 2016 with Liverpool FC will terminate on 30th of June 2019.

As per the termination of the contract, starting the 1st of July 2019 it will be impossible to use Liverpool FC in official eSports competitions that are currently being held.

As for the use of Liverpool FC within PES2019, there will be no changes.

*It will be possible to use your already acquired players as you did up until now.

Regarding other KONAMI football games, please wait for future announcements from each game.

We will keep on doing our upmost to share new ways of enjoying football through the many clubs, leagues and partnerships that are to come.

Thank you very much for your continuous support to the PES series"

Now this surly must mean Liverpool will not feature in eFootball PES 2020 as Konami would have announced a renewal of their deal instead of news of its termination so, i guess the big question is who, if anybody, will replace them?

Well, since there has been no official announcement we are left to play the guessing game but there have been some clues. Exhibit A? PES Snr. Director Brand & Business Development and the cryptic tweet king Jonas Lygaard has been up to his old tricks posting this mysterious tweet accompanied by an image of what looks like red shirt fabric:

Exhibit B was the fact that EA released a short trailer boasting some of the Bundesliga teams that FIFA 20 will feature and Bayern were nowhere to be seen!

Having looked at the evidence im going to go with Bayern as a possible new addition but and this is a big but, the red could be in conjunction with the Arsenal deal extension, maybe maybe not. Personally i think Liverpool need to be replaced to fill the two licensed English team quota but time will tell i guess but remember Konami have stated new partner clubs will be announced in July.

Stay tuned for more as news comes in.
