Corporate sponsorship analysis and consultation website Sports Business broke the story this Thursday that FIFA developers EA sports had renewed its sponsorship and licensing deals with the Premier League. The deal which is due to expire at the end of the current season will see EA tighten their hold on the Premier Leagues licensing rights from the start of the 2019/20 season right through to the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. EA sports have help the Premier League electronic games license exclusively since 2003 which saw rival developer Konami only able to acquire a handful of Premier League clubs per season. Speculation predicts that this deal will be the nail in the Japanese companies coffin but if that were the case surely it would have happened by now? The PES series has managed to survive without a full Premier League license for the 15 years that EA have held it so to suggest such a thing would be quite ludicrous especially with PES going through quite the resurgence over the last few years. There will surely be more on this as the season rolls on so stay tuned for any updates on the situation.
