PES World David Beckham Collection

David Beckham was one of my absolute favourite players when I was growing up. I had my hair in curtains (Yes, I had hair!), seven was my favourite number and to help me master that unmistakable free kick technique, I even forked out £140 for a pair of Adidas Predator Accelerators that I still have to this day!

So when Konami announced that Becks was coming to MyClub, I knew that I had to do something special to mark the occasion, and as PES World's resident classic-kit-specialist, there was only ever going to be one outcome; a David Beckham Manchester United classic kit pack.

I've chosen five kits from five pivotal moments in David's Manchester United career. There were plenty more that I could have chosen, like his goal against Galatasaray on his Champions League debut in 1994, or the Champions League final in 1999 but I didn’t want to just release a pack full of updates.

1991/92 Home (FA Youth Cup Final)
In a 2015 interview, David said that his favourite match at Old Trafford was the FA Youth Cup Final against Crystal Palace in 1992.

Having scored in the first leg in a 3-1 win at Selhurst Park, Beckham played the full 90 minutes in front of an Old Trafford crowd of nearly 15,000, as United ran out 3-2 winners on the night, giving them a 6-3 aggregate triumph.

"Winning the Youth Cup Final was one of my best highlights. I think it was above the goal versus Greece here at Old Trafford."

1995/96 Away (vs. Aston Villa)
In the summer of 1995, Manchester United sold three of their most influential players in Mark Hughes, Paul Ince and Andrea Kanchelskis. Rather than signing new players, Sir Alex Ferguson instead promoted players from the youth team.

It was seen at the time as a huge risk and a 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa on the opening day of the season led many to believe that United were done. Match of the Day’s Alan Hansen famously said that “you don’t win anything with kids”.

Manchester United ended the season with a Premier League & FA Cup double; their second in three years.

1996/97 Home (vs. Wimbledon)
A star was born on the opening day of the 1996/97 season when David Beckham confirmed his growing reputation as a potential superstar.

The midfielder had already shown immense promise for United but his strike from the halfway line at Selhurst Park proved he was a player of rare quality.

Collecting a short pass from Brian McClair, he launched an incredible shot over Neil Sullivan, who was off his line, and the ball dipped under the bar to register one of the most iconic goals in Premier League history.

1998/99 Away (vs. Barcelona)
In 1998, Manchester United were placed in a Champions League group of death alongside Brøndby IF, FC Bayern München & FC Barcelona.

On the opening night, Barcelona were the visitors to Old Trafford and in an unusual plot twist, United opted to wear their white change kit for the fixture.

In the 63rd minute, with the score tied at 2-2, United were awarded a free kick in front of the Stretford End. Up stepped David Beckham who restored their lead with an exquisite 25-yard free kick, a carbon copy of his wonder goal for England against Colombia at France '98.

2002/03 Home (vs. Everton)
On the 11th of May 2003, David Beckham made what would turn out to be his last appearance for Manchester United against Everton at Goodison Park. In the summer that followed, he moved to Real Madrid for £25m.

In a 2017 interview, David revealed that he was “shocked and devastated” when he found out that United wanted to sell him, adding "I didn't watch Manchester United for three years, I would never have left."

With United 1-0 down, they won a free kick after David Unsworth fouled Ole Gunnar Solskjær on the edge of the box. Beckham was again on hand with another trademark free kick leaving Everton keeper Richard Wright rooted to the spot.

I hope that you enjoy using this kit pack. Let me know what you think of my choices.
